About Professor Pentane

Professor Pentane is a leader in the automotive Industry's teaching, training, and learning segment. He is a Professor and Automotive Coordinator in the Department of Automotive Technology at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.   He also serves as the USA Technical Delegate to WorldSkills since 2012 and has been a leader in the SkillsUSA National Automotive Service Technology Committee since 1997.  
This Professor Pentane site is developed as a resource for the education of Automotive Technology students at PSU and anyone looking to further their knowledge in the automotive industry.

Origin Story

How did Prof. Scott Norman get the name Professor Pentane?

Prof. Scott Norman has dressed up for classes during Halloween the last few years as a Crazy Automotive Professor.  Students starting calling him Professor Octane or Professor Pentane during these days and the alter ego name of Professor Pentane stuck.

Pentane, (C5H12) is the 5th lightest hydrocarbon organic compound and the lightest HC molecule in gasoline with a boiling point of 96.98 degrees F.
